Golf podcasts that actually help improve your game

Are you a podcast listener? Some of you may know that I am an avid listener - I “read” as many books as I can on our local library’s Libby app and I am subscribed to 35 podcasts right now on my Apple Podcasts app. I have a 45 minute commute each way to work in downtown Cincinnati, so I have plenty of time in the car. I like to listen to things that inspire and educate me. Of course there is the occasional day that I just need to listen to music to either calm me down or to hype myself up, but usually I am listening to a podcast.

I wanted to share these podcasts with you because you will undoubtedly help you learn and improve your game!

Think Above Par

So often I hear from women - and I struggle with this myself - when I’m playing golf my mind is just racing with so many thoughts. It’s very difficult to perform your best on the golf course when you are thinking about your to-do list at home, or the 20 things you need to do to make your golf swing happen, or maybe you are stressed about something that happened at work that day.

Enter Kathy Hart Wood. She is a former tour player, Top 50 Teacher and Certified Mental Coach. Her episodes are bite sized - between 10 and 15 minutes long - and easily digestible. She speaks primarily to competitive players who are entering tournaments (which I have yet to ever put myself in a serious competition setting) but I still get a TON of benefits from listening to her.

If you struggle with overthinking during your round, you will definitely be able to apply some of her strategies to help you!

Golf Party Live

Golf Coach Donna Taylor and Brittany Boo are amazing hosts of this fun and informative women’s golf podcast. They have really leveled up the quality & educational value of their episodes this calendar year.

Donna teaches beginner & intermediate women’s golf clinics, private and semi-private lessons out in Arizona. Brittany Boo is her co-host and self-appointed “expert beginner.” Their banter is fun and stories from the golf course very relatable.

One of their latest episodes is my favorite by far: “Thanks, But No Thanks: How to Handle Unsolicited Golf Advice Like a Pro.”

Everyone can surely benefit by listening to Donna’s seasoned experience of what she sees so commonly from beginner women golfers, and Brittany Boo provides the beginner perspective.

Inside the LPGA

This is for you if you enjoy watching professional golf. You’ll get insider information about the players. You’ll hear unique and informative interviews with the players themselves! This podcast has less emphasis on tips for the average woman golfer but more richness and behind the scenes feel of professional golf.

I think it’s fascinating and you really get to know the players well. You get to hear what’s going through their minds in high pressure competition situations. You also get to hear things like what they purchase with their prize money to celebrate their wins, and what a regular day looks like for them.

The LPGA players really are down to earth and just all around awesome people. They look so serious on the golf course but when they are in these interviews it’s playful and relatable. It’s really incredible to hear the stories of how they have to constantly train and travel and how they balance it all.

Takeaway

I hope you find some of helpful and entertaining information from these golf podcasts. I really enjoy them, and I hope you do too!
